PrintAustin’s annual print trade culminates in this exhibition and print sale. Featuring the work of artists from around the globe, collectors (established and new) can select their favorites from the 12”x12” prints.
“This unconventional Madonna was created after visiting Assisi, Italy last year. Within the basilica, no photos are allowed, so I blind sketched this figure from a fresco on the wall into my journal. I was there teaching a workshop at La Romita School of Art, and when we got back, I was demonstrating linocut, so I carved this block.
She's printed by hand-rubbing on acid-free paper using Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash Relief Inks, mixing Siena with Process Red to brighten it up a bit.
I'm headed back to La Romita in August, so we'll see what comes out next! Check my website if you'd like to join.”
