Karen Pittman lives in Austin, dreams of travel, and sprouts wildflowers from seed collected while on hikes around Central Texas. Having explored many media from ceramics to watercolor to furniture design and building, Karen finds that woodblock printmaking hits a sweet spot, combining handcraft, woodcarving, design, and color. She has been producing wood block prints using traditional Japanese tools, methods, and materials since 2017, and creates work inspired by the natural world, sometimes playing with scale and transparency.
