My work frequently focuses on heavy music’s underground communities. I primarily create etchings that reflect my love of heavy music, history, and reading, and I use humor and exaggeration to poke fun at the absurdity of it all. The stink of sweat, the crush of bodies, and the dilapidated venues. The aggressive sound, black clothes, and anti-social posturing. The catharsis and community are found in the swirls of people—the absolute self-aware silliness of it all. I appreciate the playful competition to push the boundaries of craft, good taste, and humor while providing a welcoming environment for society’s strays, weirdos, and nerds. Throw in a cat, and we’re rockin’ and rollin’.

Mike is a printmaker and designer working in Austin, TX. He received his BFA at Massachusetts College of Art and Design(MassArt) and an AAS in Commercial Art at HCC in Houston. He currently splits my time between graphic design daily and printmaking by night in Austin, TX.
