Jesus De La Rosa was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley and Nuevo Progreso Mexico. He is an educator, painter, printmaker, and digital artist. De La Rosa spent his early life traveling across the U.S./Mexico border as a result of his parents working in Mexico and living in Texas. His borderland experience plays a pivotal role in his art practice. De La Rosa earned a BFA from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and an MFA from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he was awarded a Graduate Enrichment Fellowship. He is a Professor of Art at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, De La Rosa teaches beginning and advanced courses in painting, printmaking, and graphic design and serves as gallery coordinator. His work is held in museums, universities, portfolios, and private collections. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
